Who’s The Greatest? – Read Lk 9:46-49
Contemplation
Walking down the road while sharing their experiences, Jesus’ friends start arguing. Each one says “I’m the best!” Jesus listens to this for a while and then can’t stand it any more. “Listen,” he says quietly, “You have to understand that if you want to walk with me, it’s got to be different.” Everyone looks at him – shocked, but also a little embarrassed. Jesus finds the smallest toddler he can in the larger group walking alongside them all. Having talked to her parents, he lifts up the little child gently and says, “Being at the bottom of the list of people we think of as important – just like this little child – this is being great. If you welcome the littlest and least important, then you welcome me. If you welcome me, you welcome God the Father, who sent me.”
How do I see myself and others?
Who do I look after and why?
