Skin Problems – Lk 5:12-16
Contemplation
Somewhere outside one of the villages, a man comes up to Jesus. His skin is rough and some of his fingers and bits of his face are being eaten away by a disease. We can smell the sores on him. People like him who have leprosy have to stay outside the town because other people are worried about catching it. They are cut off from friends and family, as well as having to live with the leprosy. He bows his body right down to the ground. His voice shaking and breathing hard, he says that if Jesus wants to, he can make him better. Jesus stretches out his hand and says yes, he wants to heal him and he’s better. The man is amazed. His skin is suddenly smooth, and his body is no longer being eaten up. Jesus tells him to go and show the priests (who need proof to let him go back home) that he’s better.
Talk to Jesus and the man he heals and the people (if any) around.
What does this healing feel like?
What does going back home feel like?
What bits of me need to be put back and made better? Do they cut me off from people?
What can I say to Jesus?
