Interruption And Hospitality – Read Mark 6:30-45
Contemplation
Do I remember the good things God has done for me? Again we are on the water. It’s getting dark again, and the wind is starting to blow. This time, Jesus isn’t here. There’s no one asleep in the back we can wake. The boat is going up and down on the waves, and it’s hard to control it. Where is Jesus? Where is he? He’s back on the land, praying somewhere. Suddenly, shouts of people frightened. There’s someone … walking on the water? It looks like Jesus, but his feet aren’t even wet! Everyone’s frightened and the wind is howling – water splashing in our faces. “Don’t be afraid!” It is him, it is! The wind stops as Jesus steps gently into the boat. As we go back to the shore, to the crowds and the healings, I wonder how I could ever doubt that the person who heals and feeds and looks after us wouldn’t have taken care of us.
What do I feel, see and hear?
When do I feel afraid?
Can I trust the people who have been good to me?
What do I do when I can’t feel Jesus around me?
Do I remember the good things God has done for me?
