Meals In Fields – Read Mark 2: 23-28
Contemplation
We are walking through someone’s field. The wheat plants are waving, gold and high, brushing against us. We are hungry, but it’s a special rest day. Somebody eats some – picking someone else’s wheat and eating it – and all on a special day of rest when we should be at home, praying. Some people are upset. You can hear them calling out from the side – “Picking someone else’s food, and on a holy day, too! You should be ashamed! Call yourself a holy man, Jesus?” He’s not worried. “What are holy days for, if not to feed hungry people? Our great king, David, did it, didn’t he? Besides, God’s son is doing God’s work here and now!”
Am I too worried about how good other people are?
How do I act when rules meet need?
