What a Surprise! Read Matt 28:1-10

Contemplation

Contemplation: It’s a cold morning, and it is not even daylight yet. We leave home with Jesus’ mother and her friends to put spices on the body of the one we love. The cold ground crunches when we walk on it. Slowly, it starts getting light. Suddenly, the ground shakes. It is like being on a trampoline! The big stone we saw has gone! It is at the side of the cave and the mouth is open! There is a man sitting on the stone – bright as any light we have seen. We cannot get near. What has happened to Jesus? “Go, run, tell all his friends the good news and is waiting for them in his home town!” he says, “Jesus is alive!” Alive? How? I was there when he died? As we turn round, we hear a familiar voice and … THERE HE IS!

  • Talk to the women, Jesus and the Angel. What is the trip there and back like? How have my feelings changed on the road?

  • Have I had times when I have been sad and then had a really happy surprise?

  • What does it feel like to know that Jesus is there, too?
