Homecoming: Read Matt 13:54-58

Contemplation

We are back in Jesus’ home village. The hills and the streets and the houses are all familiar. The sounds, the sights and the smells are those from our childhood, and we know all the people from way back. But… there’s something wrong. They don’t seem really happy to see him. “We know his dad and his mum and all his family. THEY aren’t going around pretending to be prophets or telling us how to live. Who’s this Jesus playing boss?” Jesus says that this is why people don’t take advice from people they think they know – and if he can’t win their trust, he won’t be able to help.

  • Talk to Jesus and the people. What do they say?

  • Are there people I judge because I THINK I know them?
