Pigs and People: Read Matt 8:28-9:1

Finally, our boat reaches the shore. There’s a big fuss. Two men come up. They are not in control of themselves. Something else seems to be in charge of them from the inside. They stop everyone from going past them, but they seem to be afraid of Jesus. “Are you here to hurt us?” Jesus talks to the thing inside them. Suddenly a whole herd of pigs nearby rushes past us down the beach and drowns in the lake, and the two men are back in charge of themselves again. The news is round the place in no time. A lot of frightened people are soon on the beach, begging us to go away. And so we go back across the lake.
Speak to Jesus, the men and the local people.
Have I felt not in control of myself? Is Jesus near me?
Have I felt frightened about things around me, I can’t control? What do I do? Where is Jesus?
