Jesus sends out the seventy-two   Luke 10:1-37

Imaginative Contemplation

Enter into the scene

I was so excited. Jesus had called me aside, with many of my friends. There were seventy-two of us. He said he was sending us to go ahead of him into the near-by towns and villages, because he wanted to spread the good news among them. He compared the people to a ripe harvest, and we were to help gather the harvest … of people! I know how Jesus has changed my life! There is hope, and joy, and genuine love. Oh yes, I want to spread that love and sense of self worth

He told us not to rely on wealth and status, but on honesty and our desire to spread the good news. If some people don’t accept us, we are not to worry. God accepts us and that’s all that matters. Just brush the hurtful incident from our memory, like removing dust from dirty shoes. Yes indeed! The kingdom of God has come among us!

For further reflection

Discuss with Jesus the following points:

·      How can I spread the Good News of Jesus in my life?

·      How can I be a voice for the voiceless in my environment?

·      When someone hurts or insults me, am I able to let go of the hurt and move on?

Prayer

Lord, help me to share the Good News of your love and presence to all I encounter by sharing a positive attitude to life and a willingness to live in the present moment. Amen.
