Introduction

Stay awhile with Mark is a set of contemplations on the Synoptic Gospel of Mark written in a discursive way. Each exercise progresses sequentially through the Gospel of Mark, providing Ignatian contemplations of most of the narrative sections.

Each passage presumes that the reader has access to the New Testament of the Bible. The reference is given in the heading of each passage, followed by

• Imaginative contemplation, where the text provides some extra comments and questions.

• Enter into the scene, where we are invited to imagine we are present with those experiencing the event.

The section entitled For Further Reflection could well be used in the daily Examen.

Each exercise finishes with a short Prayer. May the Holy Spirit guide you as you prayerfully ponder the
exercises provided in this resource.
