Ecology and Economics: Everything is Connected
Theme

CRA, through three of its Committees, Ecology Alliance, Stewardship and Justice, identified that ecological and financial decisions must be made together. At this time of Earth’s distress and humanitarian crises, Pope Francis calls religious institutes to

  • take up the “urgent appeal” of Laudato Si’ to listen and respond to the cry of Earth and the cry of the poor by making it a community priority;

  • further our ongoing ecological conversion by bringing our members into greater understanding of their socio-ecological vocation within the spirit of our charism;

  • integrate each of the seven Laudato Si' goals into our life and apostolates by developing a systematic process to transition to an integral ecology;

  • take bold concrete actions in the spirit of Laudato Si' to address the multiple crises afflicting our common home – the planet and its people.

  • practice nonviolence, as we reconcile and heal the pain in creation and sow hope for peace. (Vatican Dicastery of Integral Human Development)

This event will focus on Goal 3 of the Laudato Si’ Action Platform: Ecological Economics.

While this has a special focus for business managers, the day is an excellent opportunity for all members, staff and companions to learn about the intersection of theology and economics and the implications for religious institutes and where we are today.

Why and how do religious institutes make economic decisions consistent with their mission and charism? What is possible? Join other religious institute leaders, finance managers, leadership team members, and integral ecology animators to discuss, dream and dare to be the difference in their religious institute and the world.
