The Presentation Sisters in Tasmania have gifted a significant parcel of land to be used for affordable housing and supported accommodation for vulnerable women, people with disabilities and needy families in the spirit of their foundress Nano Nagle.

Religious Institutes donated $50,000 to the CRA Rural Christmas Appeal, with the funds already being distributed to Religious working in rural ministry in drought-stricken towns in Queensland, NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.  

Religious were among a range of distinguished Catholics to receive Australia Day Honours this year for their work in the community, The Catholic Weekly reports.

Just when retirement was beckoning for Sister Catherine Ryan rsm, she was instead asked to take on the role of Chancellor for Ministries in the Parramatta Diocese – a position she sees primarily as a ministry of encouragement and support.

The Migration Amendment (Urgent Medical Treatment) Bill, proposed by the Member for Wentworth, Dr Kerryn Phelps is being debated in the House of Representatives today 12th February. Catholic Religious Australia supports the Bill.
