This Sunday the Church marks the 100 th World Mission Sunday, established by Pope Pius XI .
While our understanding of mission has changed over these years, mission has always been at the heart of faith communities and of people of goodwill. It is the heart of what it means to be a human community, always with an eye for those who, for whatever reason, are marginalised.
In calling us to be missionary disciples, Pope Francis was clear that we are all sent forth on mission, proclaiming God’s favour to all, taking on ‘the smell of the sheep’ (E.G. 24)
So, let’s celebrate this call to mission and continue to discover what we are called to as consecrated people today, in our diminishment, and in this seemingly fractured world.
