CATALYST FOR RENEWAL FORUM WITH JAMES ALISON

What does radical inclusion really mean for a modern synodal Church?

This forum was facilitated by Geraldine Doogue and assisted by Finn Stannard. The word of the night was "talkability". If an idea has talkability the issue can be explored, discussed, perhaps understood, perhaps normalised. It is only in recent times that same-sex orientation has begun to be talked about in an open way. Relationality, James suggested, may be a better way of understanding human behaviour than rationality. This video is shared on this channel with the kind permission of Catalyst for Renewal.

CRA SEMINAR WITH JAMES ALISON

This seminar dealt with questions such as ‘What have we discovered from those to whom we minister about these issues?’ ‘How do these learnings challenge us, and where do we find ourselves blocked in dealing with them?’

ABC RADIO NATIONAL INTERVIEW WITH JAMES ALISON

Why do we Scapegoat?

James Alison says scapegoating is one of our oldest social behaviours. But casting someone out to maintain group cohesion has its obvious drawbacks — particularly for the person taking the fall! As a gay Catholic priest, Dr Alison was drawn to the work of French polymath René Girard, who proposed that scapegoating is not the only answer.
