Addressing Antisemitism:
RESOURCES

Antisemitism is a specific form of prejudice and ill-will, directed against Jews. It is not limited to racial or religious indicators, because Jews are not defined solely in terms of racial or religious categories. Rather, Jews understand themselves to be a people and a civilisation, with a story that stretches back more than three millennia. Antisemitism has taken different forms in different ages, but with a consistent view: that Jews have no right to exist as free and equal human beings. Resources that explain the manifestations of antisemitism, provide accurate information about Judaism and Jewish history, as well as promote interreligious understanding, are an important part of dismantling harmful tropes and countering misinformation.

This webpage lists a range of resources that support efforts to track, understand, and confront antisemitism.

ANTI-JEWISH INCIDENTS - REPORT

The Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ) monitors and documents antisemitism in Australia, data it has captured in an annual report since 1990. Most recently, it has released a Special Report - Anti-Jewish Incidents in Australia 2025 (December 2025) - which shows that antisemitic incidents in Australia remain at historically high levels, being five times above the average annual number recorded before October 7, 2023. The most serious categories of incidents, which includes arson attacks against Jewish institutions, are higher than any previous year on record.

You can read the report here, and view the reports for previous years here.

As this report was published before the mass shooting attack on a Chanukah event at Bondi, NSW (14 Dec 2025), it has not been captured. However, CRA utterly condemns this act of antisemitic hatred, the worst terrorist attack to occur on Australian soil. Read more in CRA’s media release.

Addressing Antisemitic Bullying

In 2023, Catholic Religious Australia and the Executive Council of Australian Jewry collaborated to create an interfaith resource addressing antisemitic bullying, building on the Australian Catholic Bishops’ statement Walking Together: Catholics and Jews in the Australian Context. This online resource provides videos, presentations, and discussion guides to help Catholic schools and organisations raise awareness about antisemitism, foster conversation, and offer practical approaches for responding to incidents. Materials can be used in full or adapted for staff meetings, professional development, or workshops.

JUST NOW VOL. 17: ANTISEMITISM: THE WORLD’S OLDEST HATRED

In March 2025, Catholic Religious Australia released an edition of its justice publication Just Now that focussed on antisemitism, in response to the unprecedented frequency and level of extremity of antisemitism occurring in Australia. This issue of Just Now also commemorated the 60-year anniversary of the Second Vatican Council’s “Declaration on the Church’s Relationship with Non-Christian Religions”, Nostra Aetate (In Our Time), which marked a watershed moment in Catholic-Jewish relations. Just Now Vol 17 explores historical and current manifestations of antisemitism, the obligations of members of the Church to recognise and speak out against antisemitism, and practical actions which can be taken to show solidarity with the Jewish community in these difficult times.

You can access the publication here.

TEN STEPS TO AVOID ANTI-JUDAISM IN HOLY WEEK
