The 27th Chapter of the Sisters of the Good Samaritan has been hailed as a blessed, enriching, inclusive experience, producing a mission-focused Statement of Directions and a new leadership team, charged with helping to bring the Statement to life, reports The Good Oil.

The Benedictine Sisters at Jamberoo Abbey have joined with the English Benedictine Congregation, giving the small community a “new family they didn’t know existed” and left them asking why they waited so long, reports The Catholic Weekly.

One hundred and forty years ago, four courageous young Sisters of St Joseph embarked on a momentous journey from Perthville near Bathurst to Lochinvar. Traveling by train, boat and horse-drawn carriage, their mission was to bring a quality Catholic education to children in the remote parts of the Maitland Diocese, thereby nurturing their faith and opening doors for a better life.

History was made this month when a Catholic religious woman preached the homily at St Paul’s Anglican Cathedral in Melbourne to celebrate the Feast of St Phoebe.
