The nine-month celebration phase of the Fifth Plenary Council of Australia ended on Saturday, July 9, with Council Members standing and applauding as president Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB formally declared the Council closed.

Both kinds of ecclesial evolution were evident in a quietly historic keynote address delivered by Columban missionary priest, Fr Patrick McInerney, at the Great Synagogue in Sydney on the night of 31 May 2022.
