Catholic Religious Australia has signed on as a founding member of a new whole-of-Church initiative to help people and communities recover from the current bushfire crisis which will set the blueprint for how the Catholic Church responds to domestic natural disasters in the future.

The Archdiocese of Sydney’s Anti-Slavery Taskforce will work with other Catholic entities on a new anti-slavery initiative to assist those in need to access confidential legal advice and assistance to housing.

“I have learned that I have a deep fondness for the road,” Dominican Brother Reginald Chua said towards the end of a road trip from his Melbourne priory around the western half of Australia, reports The Catholic Leader.

Religious and religious institutes in Australia have donated a record amount for drought relief in this year’s Catholic Religious Australia Drought Appeal, with the funds being distributed to communities and families who are doing it tough on the land.
